Dress Code

Academic Attire for Students 

All LBUSD K-8 schools require that students follow a uniform clothes policy. Please read our guidelines so that you will be fully aware of what is and is not acceptable in student dress at Bret Harte Elementary School. Students are expected to be dressed in the appropriate uniform daily. Harte uniform policy will be strictly enforced!  

Harte School Uniform

Tops:

• Solid white, light blue or dark blue
• Polos, collar blouses or dress shirts with long or short sleeves
• Bret Harte Bulldog t-shirt
• Shirts must be tucked in
• Solid color turtlenecks & sweatshirts without logos or advertisements are acceptable
• No strapless, spaghetti straps, off the shoulder, low-cut, or tank tops

Bottoms:

• Navy blue or Khaki solid colored pants, shorts, skirts, sweats or jumpers
• Skirts and shorts must be an appropriate length
• Pants must fit at the waist and not be oversized or baggy
• Belts must be a fitted length and end must be tucked into the belt loops
• No jeans/denim 
• No overly ripped pants or clothing

Footwear:

• Footwear should be closed-toed
• Tennis shoes are recommended for the playground
• No sandals or any other open-toed, heels, skate-shoes, or crocs
